The article offers a classification and analysis of pre-revolutionary and Soviet historical works pertaining to the problem of interaction between Russian medicine and traditional Mongolian communities of Inner and Central Asia in the second half of the nineteenth – first half of the twentieth centuries. The historical studies are grouped together chronologically and characterized on the basis of their objectivity, informational and conceptual value. The article highlights their role in the creation of specialized scientific knowledge on the sociopolitical significance of Russian medicine in Inner and Central Asia.
