SELENGA BURYATS IN 19TH CENTURY: ETHNIC COMPOSITION AND RESETTLEMENT (SOUTH-WEST AREA)

The article continues the cycle of works, dedicated to research of ethnic composition of Buryat administrations in the 19th century. Selenginsk Steppe Duma was the largest in terms of population. The article represents the ethnic composition of Dzhida part
in this particular administration. The ethnic composition of this group of the Buryats shows that the population from the lower reaches of the Dzhida River took various ethnic elements both from different parts in Mongolia and parts in the Western Buryatia. The population basis of Dzhida Buryats are Sartul, Atagan, Tabangut, Alagui and Uzon.
