INTONATION OF COMPLETENESS/INCOMPLETENESS OF THE BARGUZIN DIALECT OF THE BURYAT LANGUAGE

Abaeva Yu. D.

The article is devoted to the analyses of intonation of the final and non-final clauses in the Barguzin dialect of the Buryat language. It was found that when speakers read a prepared text, the clauses have a traditional pitch contour: an ascending tone on non-final clauses and a descending tone on the final clauses, with tone peaks associated with the word prosody. The analysis of spontaneous speech has shown that these rules are often violated. Also the intonation contour is significantly influenced by
the theme-rhematic segmentation of the phrase and the location of the clause accent.
