The article covers the standoff of the two world languages on the territory of multinational Canada and the impact of the same on the language policy of the state. The author analyzes language policy and legislation in the Canadian province of Quebec. Main attention is paid to the process of Francization, which resulted in the fact that the French-speaking community of Quebec was able to bring back all the social functions that had previously belonged to the English language to their mother tongue.
