STONE AGE OF THE OKINSKY AREA OF THE REPUBLIC OF BURYATIA: STUDY AND PROSPECTS

The first data on archeology in the territory of the current Okinsky district (Buryatia Republic) were published in the 19th century. Sites of the ancient people at this territory became known only in the 20th years of the 20th century. During the 20th century, archaeological researches in Okinsky district were irregular. By 2012, 15 sites defined as ancient settlements were known in Okinsky district. Stone artifacts are mentioned for nine sites. The article presents the short analysis of Okinsky district archeological exploration degree in general and Stone Age sites here in particular. The analysis of the known archaeological materials is given and the perspective directions of researches both in chronological and territorial frames are shown.
