THE BENEFITS OF GIS PROGRAMS IN THE STUDY OF MODERN NOMADISM

The paper discusses the capabilities of GIS programs, information services and resources in the studies of modern nomadism in Mongolia. Spatial analysis tools provided in GIS programs allow to efficiently process and analyze key indicators of the nomadic economy transformation: nomadic mobility, seasonal household density, number of camps, etc. The perspectives of using GIS technologies in assessing mass migrations of nomads are shown.
