Researchers’ interest to the personal files as private documents has been growing in recent years due to the fact that they contain a significant layer of information about human labor activity. Personal files have scientific, social-legal and political significance not only within the framework of an individual’s destiny, but also within the framework of the whole nation’s fate. This article considers the documents of the personal file of the famous scientist and public figure G. L. Sanzhiev. These documents are kept in the archive of the Buryat Scientific Center SB RAS. They illuminate the main stages of the scientist’s activity, make it possible to supplement the history of his life with new facts, reflecting the processes that took place in the national historical science.
