Yu. Lepekhov as synchronous stories of both Buddhist philosophy and Buddhist culture and civilization are analyzed in this article. The approaches of S. Yu. Lepekhov to the study of Buddhist «text-personality», problems of the study of Buddhist philosophical texts, including Prajnaparamita Sutra, the logical-epistemological treatises of Madhyamika and Vijnanavada, some translations of which were introduced into scientific circulation by S. Yu. Lepekhov, are surveyed. The authors have analysed textual, hermeneutical, culturological and source re-search methods of Buddhist written monuments used by the Buddhologist. Attention is paid to the existing objective limitations in conducting comparative studies, which have been pointed out by S. Yu. Lepekhov, who believes that they can be carried out only by taking into consideration the peculiarities of the historical development of each of the compared cultural and philosophical traditions.
