This paper shines a spotlight on the views of the pre-revolutionary Russian physicians on the causes and consequences of high epidemic morbidity among the indigenous Siberian peoples. The author analyzes some textual representations brought to us by the expedition reports and scientific publications in medical journals. The causes of the medical interest in the study of epidemic challenges in the region are revealed.
