“THE THIRD NEIGHBOR” ROLE IN MONGOLIA’S POLITICAL STRATEGY

Rodionov V. A., Ayush D., Sanjmyatav B.

The researcher’s attention is mostly focused on the analysis of the substantive content of the “third neighbor” concept used in the foreign policy of post-socialist Mongolia. Content analysis of these documents shows that the concept of a “third neighbor” includes the major powers of the West (USA, Canada, the EU) and their allies (Japan, South Korea, India, Turkey). As a result, the concept of the “third neighbor” takes on the character of ideological and political concept, the essence of which is the “common democratic values”. Affecting Mongolia through various political, economic, cultural and educational channels “the third neighbor” is actively opposed to its immediate neighbors – Russia and China.
