CORAL ON THE SILK ROAD: OBJECTS OF LUXURY IN THE CULTURE OF NOMADS OF INNER ASIA

Decorations held a specific place in the life of nomads of Central Asia. Among them, the most popular were adornments with coral. Lexical terms to determine “coral” in the Mongolian languages – shure and marzhany  help to outline probable trade routes, used for delivering this commodity from the countries of the Mediterranean and Southeast Asia to Mongolia and South Siberia.
