THE INTERPRETATION OF THE CONCEPT OF THE “INCOMPATIBILITY OF DHARMAS” IN MADHYAMIKA-PRASANGIKA

In the article, based on a wide range of Tibetan-language sources, the content of the Buddhist concept of “incompatibility of dharmas” is revealed, as it is represented in Tibetan Buddhism. The main emphasis is on the interpretation of this concept in the tradition of Geluk, which is widespread in the countries of Central Asia. The basic structural elements of the concept of incompatibility are considered (the “basis of negation” – dgag gzhi, the “object of negation” – dgag bya, the “negation” – dgag pa), the types of incompatibility (“incompatibility of mutual rejection” – phan tshun spangs ‘gal and “incompatibility of non-interruption together” – lhan cig mi mi gnas ‘gal),) and their main characteristics, and the significance of the concept of incompatibility in the soteriological system of Buddhism is revealed.
