Donets A. M.

In the article, based on a wide range of Tibetan-language sources, the content of the Buddhist concept of “incompatibility of dharmas” is revealed, as it is represented in Tibetan Buddhism. The main emphasis is  on  the  interpretation of this concept in the tradition of Geluk, which is widespread in the countries of Central Asia. The basic structural elements of the concept of incompatibility are considered (the “basis of  negation” – dgag  gzhi,  the  “object of negation” – dgag bya,  the “negation” – dgag pa),  the types  of  incompatibility  (“incompatibility  of  mutual  rejection” – phan  tshun  spangs  ‘gal  and “incompatibility of non-interruption together” – lhan cig mi mi gnas ‘gal),) and their main characteristics, and  the  significance  of  the concept  of  incompatibility  in  the soteriological  system  of Buddhism is revealed.
